Running eight race meetings against world class 410 Sprintcar competition over the past fortnight has not been easy, but it’s made the Krikke Motorsport team’s USA VS WA Speedweek Series title defence with Dayne Kingshott even more rewarding.
During the eight rounds of Speedweek between the Perth Motorplex and Bunbury Speedway tracks, the WA # 2 Mobil 1 / Bunbury Toyota supported Maxim driver never finished outside the top seven with an average finishing position of fourth and it saw him and the Krikke Motorsport team score a successful USA VS WA Speedweek Series defence and the $10,000 top prize that came with it.
When it came to this season’s USA VS WA Speedweek Series highlights, it was hard to go past Kingshott’s outstanding run of podium finishes over the three nights of the High Limit International, which saw him come very close to winning the $110,000 cheque on the final night but in the end he had to settle for second behind American star Kyle Larson. Another highlight came in the form of a seventh and penultimate Speedweek round victory at the Perth Motorplex.
“It’s a big achievement for the whole Krikke Motorsport team to make it back-to-back Speedweek titles, as we have all worked so hard up against world-class competition night after night, so to come out on top after the eight rounds is very satisfying for everyone,” commented Kingshott.
“After being so close to taking out the High Limit International during Speedweek, I was determined to try and get a win in the remaining rounds, which I managed to do at Perth on the second-last night, and it was great to be able to do that on my way to sealing the Speedweek title for another season.”
In what has been an intense fortnight of world-class 410 Sprintcar racing, Krikke Motorsport team manager Ryan Krikke was mighty proud of his team’s efforts.
“It’s great to defend the Speedweek title and a pleasing reward for the whole team for their endless efforts,” he praised.
“The past fortnight has been massive for everyone in the team and it’s a mega effort to win Speedweek against the calibre of teams over the past eight nights. The series has a lot of history and has always been against high class USA drivers, so it’s always been tough to win. To win the one Speedweek round was cool, but then to go on and win the series is something to be proud of.
“The team will now have this weekend off, before we hit the road to compete over on the east coast at the Kings Challenge, Grand Annual Classic and the Australian Championship, and hopefully we can continue our great season so far over there.”
