FIM SPEEDWAY: DOYLE SIGNS FOR SWEDISH CHAMPS
Aussie racer Jason Doyle has confirmed he will make his Bauhaus Elitserien comeback with Vastervik in 2026.
The 2017 Speedway GP World Champion recently revealed that he won’t race in the UK next year due to the ongoing confusion surrounding the make-up of the Premiership.
While British Speedway Promoters Ltd announced that the Premiership will run with at least five teams last Friday, Ipswich star Doyle had already made his decision to depart – committing to Polish club Krosno, Danish side Esbjerg and now Vastervik alongside his Speedway GP commitments.
Doyle is pleased to be reunited with former Rospiggarna and Dackarna boss Mikael Teurnberg at the coastal club, where he had a brief stint in 2020.
He said: “I am finally back in Sweden after two seasons away, and I couldn’t be happier to be representing Västervik again.
“The last time I raced for the club was under special circumstances due to the corona pandemic, so it feels great to be back and also work together with my friend Micke Teurnberg again. We have many great memories and shared successes before, and I obviously hope that we can create new successes during the upcoming season.
“I really look forward to being part of the club again and contributing when needed. Finally, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
Doyle is not scheduled to race every meeting, but Teurnberg is backing him to contribute to the Bauhaus Elitserien champions’ title defence when called upon.
He said: “As the last rider to join the squad, we get Jason Doyle – a rider who never gives up, a rock-hard fighter with a great attitude on the track. We have won Swedish Championship gold together twice before, in 2016 and 2021, and of course both he and I hope for a third time.
“Jason is available and will be able to replace riders when needed and fit into the different line-ups that we have. It feels really good to have secured his signature, and when he decided not to ride in Britain, there were no surprises.”
