PAINTMASTER SA SIDECAR SPECTACULAR AT GILLMAN THIS SATURDAY NIGHT

After their epic finish in the Safe Fire Electrical Gillman Sidecar Championship at the last meeting Trent Headland/Jaxon Rayner and Justin Plaisted/Brian Anthony return to Gillman Speedway on Saturday night (6 December) to face off again in the Paintmaster SA $2000 Gillman Sidecar Spectacular
In the Gillman Championship, Plaisted/Anthony, riding a borrowed bike, won all of their heats and led for three laps in the final only to beaten by Headland/Rayner, who roared around the outside with a powerful burst of speed at the end of the third lap and into the last lap for a narrow win. Plaisted and Headland are both former Australian Champions so, despite last meeting’s results, there will be no clear-cut favourite on Saturday night.
The other finalists in the Gillman Championship, Kiwis Taylor Green/Callum Innes, and local duo Josh Pascoe/Dale Knights are also back, as are the semi-finalists Nate Headland/Harry Hearne, Byren Gates/Damian Egan and Shane Rudloff/Jake Doyle.
Re-joining the line-up, after being forced to miss the Gillman Championship after it was postponed to the Sunday afternoon are Kym Menadue/Shane Dolan and Shane Hudson/Jack Spear, while New South Wales young guns Max Howse/Riley Commons will be making their first appearance of the season. All three duos will fancy their chances of at least a semi-final berth, and quite possibly a place in the final.
Others in the list of 14 seeded riders are Brian Silvy/Glen Zaworski, Byron Mordaunt/Scott Cameron, Jason Mordaunt/Peter Robinson and Simon Cohrs/Cameron Diwell. Byron Mordaunt, with regular passenger Jarrad Katzorke, has been the most improved rider this season and led Plaisted and Headland at one stage in their heat at the last meeting, but this is a very strong line-up so getting a semi-final berth will not be easy.
Four pairs, Joshua Kerr/Kate Barnes, Scott Morris/Jye Siddall, William Walker/Liam Sherwood and Darrell Woods/Brady Jarvis will contest a qualifying race for the other two places, with the non-qualifiers contesting the support races.
Other support events are the Flat Track Solos, with the strongest line-up this season, and the 125cc Junior Solos.
This is the final meeting before Christmas.
Gates open at 4pm and racing starts at 7pm.
For those that can’t attend, the meeting will be livestreamed through the website link [www.spacequakesports.com] for a cost of $25. As always this is the only official livestream. Any other links touted on any facebook sites apart from the official Gillman Speedway page are scams and should be ignored.

Directions:
The best way to get to Gillman Speedway is off Hanson Road.
If you are coming from the eastern and southern suburbs, get on to Hanson road off Torrens Road or Grand Junction Road, travel north on Hanson road over the train line then take the first road on the left, which is Wilkins road.
From the northern suburbs, travel down the Port Adelaide expressway and take the Hanson Road exit. Once on Hanson Road, take the first exit on your right, this is Wilkins road.
From the western suburbs, Wilkins Road is the continuation of Bedford Street, north of Eastern Parade.
For interstate visitors flying into Adelaide and getting a hire car, Gillman is about 20kms, and 30 minutes’ drive (depending on traffic lights) from the airport.
The easiest and most direct way from the airport, if not going to your accommodation first is:
On leaving the airport, turn left onto Sir Donald Bradman Drive. Continue along Sir Donald Bradman Drive until you reach the end of the airport grounds and turn right onto Tapleys Hill Road. Keep going on Tapleys Hill Road until you can’t go any further. That’s Port Road. Turn left onto Port Road (you can only turn left). Continue down Port Road for about 1 km to the first intersection which is Grand Junction road and turn right. Go 700 metres along Grand Junction Road, over a bridge over a railway line. Stay in the left lane because at the bottom of the bridge you turn left into Gray Terrace. Go to the end of Gray Terrace and turn right onto Bedford Street. Keep going on that road until you get to the speedway. About 2km.
Accommodation: There is plenty of accommodation in Adelaide and suburbs, within 20-30 minutes of the Speedway, ranging from five star hotels to caravan parks and backpacker hostels.
