BEWLEY WANTS SUCCESS IN SEASON OPENER
BELLE Vue star Dan Bewley is looking to make a winning start to the new season when he competes in the Peter Craven Memorial Trophy on Monday (March 16, 7pm).
The World No.3 has been a regular podium finisher in the prestigious event, but he has to go back to 2021 for the last time he took the top step.
Taking victory on Monday, however, will require getting the better of several World stars in a unique meeting climax, with six riders contesting the Final.
Bewley said: “It’s been a while, and it’s a pretty cool trophy for the Peter Craven with the old shield, so I wouldn’t mind another!
“I’ve never been at the back of the Final, but I really don’t want to try it either!
“It’s interesting with six riders, and obviously it’s a pretty historic meeting remembering Peter Craven. It’s a pretty cool meeting to be part of.”

SCUNTHORPE have announced an extension to their main team sponsorship deal with Ellie Rose Travel.
The family-run business are based on the outskirts of East Hull in Saltend and will be going into their third successive season as title sponsors of the Scorpions.
The Lincolnshire club kick off their campaign with a BSN Series home fixture against Redcar on Sunday March 22.
Promoter Rob Godfrey said: “It’s fantastic that we will again take to the track at the Ellie Rose Travel Scunthorpe Scorpions in 2026.
“Shane and Mandy Houghton of Ellie Rose Travel are not just our sponsors. They are very close friends of my wife Gail and I. Shane and Mandy have been a great help at the Eddie Wright Raceway.
“We want to spread the name of Ellie Rose Travel, and that’s one reason we are targeting a successful season for the Scorpions in 2026.”

COVENTRY legend Chris Harris will lead the Bees Select team for their special challenge fixture which opens the campaign at Oxford on Wednesday April 1.
Harris spent a total of 11 seasons at Brandon, winning the top-flight league title on three occasions.
He will be joined at Cowley by former Bees mascot Dan Thompson with Leon Flint, Jody Scott, Luke Harrison, Ashton Vale and Senna Summers making up the side.
They will be managed by Danish legend Hans Nielsen, who captained both clubs – winning a string of honours with the Cheetahs before completing his career with two years for the Bees.
Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “The campaign to bring back speedway to Brandon is at a crucial point and this match can only help show the backing they have.
“Oxford and Coventry have a great history of competition over the years, and the Coventry Select side is one the fans can really get behind.”
