A NEW BEGINNING AT NORTHAMPTON
NORTHAMPTON stadium owners Spedeworth Motorsports have warmly welcomed the arrival of top-level speedway for the coming season.
The Brafield venue, a successful home of stock car racing for many years, will now be staging two-wheeled action following this week’s announcement that Northampton will be the sixth club in the Premiership.
Spedeworth MD Deane Wood said: “I’m a racing fan at heart, and with so much uncertainty with tracks closing at the minute it feels great to be sharing some positive news.
“We have made considerable investment in Northampton since taking ownership of the stadium, adding a grandstand, new toilets, new catering, new hospitality units and a new bar to the venue since 2022 – a real transformation.
“The place has come a long way since it opened in the 1950s, with thousands of oval racing fans enjoying our racing – now I can’t wait to see the venue welcome a whole new audience with the addition of speedway.
“With oval motorsport continuing to thrive, with the addition of speedway and drifting events – it’s an exciting time at one of the country’s longest serving short ovals!”
