BRITISH SPEEDWAY WEEKLY BULLETIN 2025/31
Feature photo by: TAYLOR LANNING… REDCAR are celebrating a dramatic victory in the BSN Series Final to secure major team silverware for the first time in six years.
The Bears drew 45-45 at Poole on Friday for a two-point aggregate victory which in the process shattered the Pirates’ hopes of completing a double Treble.
The visitors were behind overall with five races remaining, but reserve Jody Scott was the hero as he partnered skipper Charles Wright to a 5-1 in Heat 11 and then added a 4-2 with Jason Edwards in the next.
Home No.1 Richard Lawson was disqualified from Heat 13 for an incident which saw both Bears riders come to grief, but Wright and Danny King picked themselves up to score another big 5-1 in the re-run.
That left Redcar needing just a second place from Heat 14 but the pressure was on Scott after team-mate Jake Mulford crashed out with a broken chain, and he delivered the result they required by splitting Zach Cook and Paul Starke to seal the trophy.
HERE’S the latest news and fixtures from around the tracks up and down the country.

WITCHES IN CIVIC RECEPTION
IPSWICH Borough Council and Ipswich Central have invited the public to a celebratory event on the Town Hall steps this Friday, October 31 at 12.30pm.
The event, which will feature reaction from team and management, is to celebrate the Witches’ achievements in being crowned ROWE Motor Oil Premiership champions this season.
Promoter Chris Louis said: “It is great to be honoured by the town once again. For me it has been 27 years but for Ritchie (Hawkins), Danny (King) and the rest of the team it is a new thing.
“But it has been coming for four or five years since we introduced Jason (Doyle) and added Emil (Sayfutdinov) to the team, and we have had pretty much the same team over the last couple of years, ironically even with Keynan (Rew) coming back to do the second leg of the final!
“It has been a team effort, and it is a real honour to represent the town, and it showed what it means with the crowd that turned up to the second leg of the Final. They came in their thousands and that brought back a lot of memories for me.
“It was great to see some of the older fans who were maybe around in 1998 bringing children or even grandchildren along with them this time.
“It is a really special feeling for me personally and it is great for the club, fans, staff and sponsors who have stuck by us and helped us towards this title.
“We are looking forward to meeting the dignitaries at the civic reception and we will get a feel for it, and I am glad to be doing it again!”
CAB DIRECT CHAMPIONSHIP LATEST
BSN SERIES DELIGHT FOR BEARS
REDCAR boss Gavin Parr was ecstatic to upset the odds and come away from Poole with the BSN Series trophy last Friday – despite being only two points ahead from the first leg.
A six-man Bears side put in a sensational display at Wimborne Road and youngster Jody Scott secured the silverware with second place in Heat 14, avoiding the need for a tense last-heat decider.
It was Redcar’s first team silverware since they won the KO Cup against rivals Newcastle in 2019, although they have since enjoyed double success in the Championship Pairs.
Parr said: “To come to Poole with only a two point lead, nobody expected us to get the win but we just kept plugging away.
“On the night I think we were the better side and rider replacement got paid 11 so that choice paid dividends.
“Jody was absolutely immense today, he was brilliant and he had a blinder of a meeting.”
TWO OUT OF THREE FOR PIRATES
POOLE manager Neil Middleditch was philosophical in reflecting on the BSN Series Final, where his side were edged out by Redcar in a dramatic meeting at Wimborne Road.
Having secured the two other parts of a hoped-for Treble on the road in recent weeks, the Pirates were unable to overturn a two-point first leg deficit on their home track.
But with the Cab Direct Championship and MAXiCab KO Cup already in the trophy cabinet, it has still been another hugely successful season in Dorset.
Middleditch said: “I feel for Zach (Cook) as he desperately wanted to achieve the Treble and follow in his brother’s footsteps.
“He is bitterly disappointed to have missed out on it, but he shouldn’t be really. We have all had a fantastic season here at Poole this season.
“Many teams would be happy to get one trophy and we have got two, so we should feel proud on that score.”
NICHOLLS BACK FOR GLADIATORS
SCOTT Nicholls is an early name on the Plymouth team sheet for 2026 after a successful comeback from injury this summer.
The hugely experienced Nicholls sat out the first half of the campaign after crashing out when racing for Oxford last October and requiring shoulder surgery.
But he quickly began to rack up the points with the Gladiators and has now committed to a Coliseum return next year.
Nicholls said: “I really enjoyed my time at Plymouth this year. I’ve always loved watching the Gladiators TV shows and that helped me feel part of things straight away.
“It was disappointing not to make the play-offs, because I think without a bit of misfortune and a few unlucky breaks, we would’ve been there — and deserved to be. But overall, I really enjoyed being part of the club.
“I’ve had a few offers, but for better or worse — for me and for you guys — you’re going to have to put up with me for another year, because I’ve agreed a deal for 2026.”
FOURS FINALE AT OXFORD
OXFORD will make a third attempt to stage their season-ending Four Team Tournament at Cowley on Wednesday.
The meeting will include Select sides representing the Cheetahs, Coventry, Swindon and Wolverhampton, with the likes of Sam Masters, Chris Harris, Dan Thompson and Scott Nicholls included in the line-up.
Oxford boss Peter Schroeck said: “We wanted to stage one more meeting at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium this season.
“It’s been a tough year for Oxford Speedway with the Spires and the Cheetahs, but the Chargers have been a shining light, winning the WSRA National Development League.
“The Chargers clinched the title with a brilliant 60-30 victory in their final meeting at Redcar. This meeting will give the lads the chance to return home and parade their trophy in front of the Oxford fans.
“We’ve also invited Select teams from Swindon, Coventry and Wolverhampton, and we hope to have plenty of fans from those clubs. There’s still huge support and enthusiasm for all three of these historic teams and we want to celebrate that at Oxford on Wednesday evening.
“More than anything, we want everyone to enjoy the four team tournament. It’s a chance for everyone to have a bit of fun at the end of the season. Our thanks go to BetGoodwin for sponsoring this meeting.”

RUNNERS-UP SPOTS AT STAKE
LEICESTER stage a double-header at the Hydroscand Arena, Beaumont Park on Wednesday (7pm) with issues to be resolved in both Development leagues.
The Lion Cubs first host Belle Vue in the WSRA NDL, and that meeting is then followed by the Fox Cubs against Kent in the NDT.
The situation in the league is that the Lion Cubs need a win on the night to secure second place in the overall standings; whilst the Colts need a win by more than six points to move out of their current sixth place.
In the NDT, a Leicester win by more than six points will see them rise from fifth to second in the table, whilst any other result will see Kent retain the runners-up position.
