FIM SPEEDWAY: DOYLE’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Aussie icon Jason Doyle was elated to receive a dream 40th birthday present of a Speedway GP wild card for 2026.
Doyle was handed one of the SGP Commission’s three permanent picks for next year, joining compatriot Max Fricke and Great Britain hero Tai Woffinden in completing the Speedway GP line-up.
It comes just days after Doyle won his second FIM Speedway of Nations world title with Australia in Torun, before he helped British club Ipswich to a 47-43 win in the Rowe Motor Oil Premiership Grand Final, first leg at Leicester on Monday – a handy advantage ahead of Thursday’s title decider at Ipswich’s Foxhall Stadium.
With his 2024 season ended early by a torn rotator cuff and Doyle’s 2025 campaign hampered by a dislocated hip, suffered at the Orlen Oil FIM Speedway GP of Poland – Warsaw in May, injuries have not been kind to him in recent seasons.
But Doyle, who missed this year’s FIM Speedway GP of Czech Republic – Prague, still raced to 10th spot in the standings. It’s a result he hopes to better in 2026 after his return to the line-up for next year was confirmed on his 40th birthday on Monday.
Posting on Instagram, he wrote: “Well, I guess it’s a very Happy Birthday and surprise from @speedwaygp! 2026 SGP, thank you! Can’t wait to go again, I am very grateful for another chance at chasing my dream.”
