REDCAR REACH KO CUP FINAL
REDCAR are through to the MAXiCab KO Cup Final after being taken all the way to a Super Heat decider at Oxford on Sunday.
The Cheetahs chipped away at the Bears’ six-point lead from the first leg, levelling the aggregate scores on three occasions at Cowley.
The first two of those saw the visitors immediately edge back in front, but a 5-1 to the Cheetahs from Mitch McDiarmid and Jonas Knudsen in Heat 14 after Jody Scott had crashed restored overall parity, and this was maintained in Heat 15 to leave the scores all square at 90-90.
The Super Heat was dramatic with Sam Masters leading from the front for the hosts ahead of Danny King, whilst a tight battle for third place saw Charles Wright just make it to the line ahead of Oxford guest Kye Thomson to send the visitors through.
Masters scored 12+1 in the regular meeting, which Oxford won 48-42, whilst King (14) and Wright (12+1) dominated the Bears’ scoring as they did just enough to set up a Final with holders Poole.
Redcar boss Gavin Parr said: “We dug deep, every one of the boys worked so hard and deserved the aggregate win.
“Hats off to Oxford as they gave us two fantastic meetings and fought right to the end.”

THE draw has been made for the British Under-19 Final at Workington on Saturday October 11.
Defending champion Ace Pijper has been drawn at No.3 and the opening race of the meeting will see him clash with Luke Harrison, who was runner-up last year.
The line-up includes several riders with significant Championship experience, as well as 15-year-olds Cooper Rushen, Ryan Ingram and Charlie Southwick.
GB Youth boss Neil Vatcher said: “This is an extremely strong Final and in each heat there will be some great clashes, none more so than Heat 1!
“Thereafter each and every heat will be tense, and it would be really hard to pick out any favourites.
“Both Luke Harrison and Jody Scott have had some Premiership experience for King’s Lynn this season, Vinnie Foord represents his home club, and both Ace Pijper and Sam McGurk are former Workington riders. “A lot has been spoken about Will Cairns and Cooper Rushen, and whether this Final will come too early for them or not only time will tell!”
DRAW: 1 Luke Harrison, 2 Ryan Ingram, 3 Ace Pijper, 4 Jamie Etherington, 5 Will Cairns, 6 Ben Trigger, 7 Sam McGurk, 8 Freddy Hodder, 9 Max Perry, 10 Jody Scott, 11 Cooper Rushen, 12 Stene Pijper, 13 Vinnie Foord, 14 Charlie Southwick, 15 Jordy Loftus, 16 Ashton Vale. Reserves: 17 Harry Fletcher, 18 Lee Harrison.
There will also be British Youth Championship action on the day with the 250cc and 125cc classes following the British Under-19 Final.
