NEW PROMOTER FOR FIM WORLD SPEEDWAY CHAMPIONSHIP DISCIPLINES
Mayfield Sports Events Ltd has been confirmed as the new global promoter of the FIM Speedway World Championships until 2031 after reaching an agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery Sports and the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM).
WBD remains committed to the sport as global broadcaster and rights distributor for FIM Speedway for the next six seasons, ensuring FIM Speedway will continue to reach millions of viewers through WBD’s channels and platforms such as its streaming services HBO Max and discovery+ in Europe and USA; via its linear channels including Eurosport in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region and TNT Sports in the UK and Ireland; as well as widely accessible coverage through WBD’s sub-license partnerships.
Meanwhile, Mayfield will assume the role of global promoter, determined to deliver a fan-focused, stable and sustainable future for a full-throttle sport, raced on 500cc bikes with no brakes that accelerate faster than a Formula 1 car.
Mayfield will oversee every level of the FIM Speedway pyramid. This includes the FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship (Speedway GP), the FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship (SGP2), the FIM Speedway Youth World Championship (SGP3) and the FIM SGP4 World Championship for 11-13-year-olds, as well as the sport’s world team championships – the FIM Speedway of Nations and the FIM Speedway World Cup, which returns in 2026.
Based at the heart of British motor racing near Silverstone, Mayfield is a company steeped in motorsport heritage, with vast experience in sports contested on both two wheels and four, including Formula 1, MotoGP, British and World Touring Cars.
Specialists at arranging and striking the right deals between sports teams or individuals and organisations wishing to promote their brand, Mayfield works with iconic racing teams including Red Bull Racing, McLaren, Haas, Aston Martin, Alfa Romeo, Chevrolet, Porsche and Seat.
Mayfield joined forces with outgoing global promoter Warner Bros. Discovery Sports to organise the FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Cardiff at the storied Principality Stadium in both 2023 and 2024, winning the FIM Speedway Local Organiser of the Year prize in 2023.
Richard Coleman, founder of Mayfield Sports Events Ltd, grew up within earshot of Coventry Bees’ legendary Brandon Stadium – former home of the FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain. He is excited to return to the shale as FIM Speedway global promoter.
He said: “It is an honour and a pleasure to return to a sport that I followed as soon as I was old enough to be at trackside with my friends. I recently attended the OlyBet FIM Speedway GP of Latvia – Riga, meeting fans from around the world, and their passion and love for speedway made me even more certain that this is a great opportunity for the Mayfield team.
“We look forward to engaging with all stakeholders – fans, riders, sponsors, local organisers, national federations, officials and, of course, our partners at the FIM – to improve the show and develop the sport at all levels.
“We will bring everyone news on the 2026 FIM Speedway calendar soon, along with details of the 2026 Speedway GP line-up and permanent wild cards. As well as putting fans at the heart of what we do, delivering breathtaking action for those watching live at the stadium and at home, we are determined to ensure FIM Speedway has an exciting and sustainable future. Building on the pyramid system implemented in recent years is a key part of that, as riders aim to progress from SGP4 all the way to Speedway GP.
“We look forward to working with the FIM and WBD in the coming years and thank them for the trust and confidence they have placed in Mayfield. The hard work starts now, and we cannot wait to deliver a fantastic season of FIM Speedway action in 2026.”
