TIGERS ON TOP IN FACE-OFF AGAINST SCOTTISH RIVALS
GLASGOW have secured top spot in the Cab Direct Championship with a 53-37 win over Edinburgh – and they may be set to face the Monarchs again in the play-offs.
The Tigers moved one point clear of Poole at the top of the table thanks to their home victory, whilst their Scottish rivals have also competed their fixtures and are currently in fourth place.
They will retain a play-off position unless Workington win each of their remaining three fixtures, as well as taking their last two aggregate points available – meaning the Comets require a home and away double over Berwick, and to overturn a 12-point margin in an away trip to Redcar next Friday.
Kyle Howarth top scored for the Tigers at Ashfield with 13+1, and Villads Nagel scored 13 as he reeled off four wins after a third place in Heat 1. Dan Thompson added 10+1.
Michael Palm Toft scored 11 from six rides for the visitors and was the only rider to defeat Howarth and Thompson as they now play a waiting game to confirm their play-off place.

REDCAR confirmed their place in the Cab Direct Championship play-offs with a 45-43 win in a last-heat decider at Scunthorpe.
The Bears will finish third in the league table and that means they are set for a semi-final clash with defending champions Poole.
An unusual meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway saw both teams collect a 5-0, with the Redcar maximum coming in Heat 14 to put them ahead.
Youngster Luke Harrison won Heat 15 for the home side but guest Antti Vuolas and Charles Wright kept Jake Allen at the back to secure the away win.
Wright scored 11+2 from five rides and Danny King collected nine, including three race wins, whilst Harrison (10+1) and Allen (10) led the way for the Scorpions in their final meeting of the season.

GOLDEN boy Bruce Penhall will be the special guest of honour at the World Speedway Riders’ Association Awards night and dinner.
The two-time world champion, who quit speedway to become a Hollywood Star will be making a rare British appearance and will add a red carpet VIP gloss to the annual dinner at Leicester’s Marriott Hotel on Saturday, November 8.
It’s a major coup for the WSRA and tickets are now on sale and organisers are expecting a rush of orders with the release of the news that Bruce will be there.
He said: “I have such great memories of Britain. I’m looking forward to seeing some old friends and talking about the past.
“I’m so excited about it, I really am. I don’t get to do much in England any more and that was my life for five years, not very long, but five years I will never forget.
“I didn’t see the sun very much, I went from blond to brown, but I have such great memories, I really do.”
WSRA chairman Bert Harkins said: “We are absolutely delighted to have Bruce as this year’s Guest of Honour and we have to thank Ian Sinderson and Jason Crump from the ATPI Group who are world leaders in the travel and events industry who have made it all possible by ensuring everything will run smoothly as he flies here and back to his home in California.”
Tickets, at £58 per person, for the WSRA Gala Awards Dinner are available from secretary Graham Darling on 07737440296 or graham.darling71@gmail.com.
Accommodation can be booked on the website worldspeedwayriders.org at a special rate of £109 inclusive of breakfast for the Friday and/or Saturday night.
