Northam’s Avon Valley Speedway has a rich history and that is set to continue, thanks to the recent announcement the Northam Motorplex has begun negotiations with the Northam Council to transfer the lease to the Perth TQ Car Club.
The reason is to operate Avon Valley Speedway as a non-for-profit association.
Since the opening of the track in 1964, Avon Valley Speedway developed into one of Western Australia’s most popular regional tracks, and although the track has faced its fair share of challenges over the past three decades, the announcement of the Perth TQ Car Club taking over the Avon Valley Speedway is an exciting prospect.
“It’s fantastic to have the Perth TQ Car Club come onboard with the operations of the relaunched Avon Valley Speedway, as it is going to hopefully ensure the track’s future for many years to come,” commented the former operator of the Northam Motorplex and the new Perth TQ Car Club president Rick Musarra.
“I’ve been working very closely with the Perth TQ Car Club for a few years now to make all of this come together, and it was a no brainer to have the Perth TQ Car Club and Avon Valley Speedway come together for the betterment of both parties.”
Musarra continued by saying that the new Perth TQ Car Club committee brings together a wealth of experience to push the Avon Valley Speedway track well into the future.
“The new committee understands the huge commitment that it’s going to take to get Avon Valley Speedway up and running again and also keeping the 60-plus year history of the Perth TQ Car Club alive,” he enthused.
“The Perth TQ Car Club’s new committee has a lot of experience within the sport of speedway across a wide range of roles, and everyone is excited about bringing Avon Valley Speedway back to life.”
