FRICKE FLIES TO SPRINT WIN AS KURTZ CUTS ZMARZLIK’S LEAD IN MANCHESTER
Aussie racer Max Fricke kicked off his ATPI FIM Speedway GP of Great Britain – Manchester weekend in style by winning the round-four sprint race to earn four Speedway GP World Championship points on Friday afternoon, June 13.
Former Belle Vue hero Fricke hugged the kerb with an ice-cool four laps to take the win, with his compatriot Brady Kurtz producing an epic ride on his British home track to overhaul five-time world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik for second.
This earned Kurtz three points, closing the Pole’s championship advantage from eight points to seven as Zmarzlik collected two.
Slovak star Martin Vaculik gave his points tally a boost by taking fourth place and a single championship point.
