FANS MAKE THE CALL FOR BEWLEY
BELLE Vue favourite Dan Bewley insists his ‘home advantage’ in Manchester’s double Grand Prix weekend will come from the crowd rather than the track.
Bewley has already won the British GP on two occasions at its previous Cardiff base, as well as triumphing on his home Polish track of Wroclaw in 2022.
Now he goes for glory on Friday and Saturday at the National Speedway Stadium, scene of two FIM Speedway of Nations victories in recent years where he has teamed up with World number two Robert Lambert.
Bewley said: “As far as the actual track’s concerned, as far as it being just a home track, I really don’t see it as much of an advantage.
“I feel like at that level, the track’s just a track. You’ve got to look at the track prep in that way too, it can be completely different to how you’ve ever been there.
“But it is good to race on your home track. Like the Speedway Nations in the past, I feel like I always feel good when you have that, I don’t know, people might say it’s pressure, but when you’ve got that home crowd, it just gives you that little bit of extra. I think it’s awesome.
“I love the whole stadium, but the back straight’s kind of like, got a bit extra for me, it’s always a bit louder on that side.”

POOLE moved two points clear at the top of the Cab Direct Championship with a convincing 51-39 win over Redcar at Wimborne Road.
The Pirates made a flying start as they opened the meeting with back-to-back 5-1s in the opening two races, forcing the Bears into damage limitation.
The decisive moment effectively came in Heat 9 when home duo Lewis Kerr and Zach Cook raced to a maximum advantage over Erik Riss and tactical substitute Danny King just as the visitors were looking to get back into the contest.
Richard Lawson scored 13+1 for the Pirates although he was denied a maximum in Heat 15 by former Pirates rider King, who won four of his six races on his way to 14 points.
Kerr added 10 for a solid-scoring home side, whilst the visitors did peg the deficit in the final third of the meeting and finished with two 4-2s.
Poole boss Neil Middleditch said: “Looking at the scoresheet it was a good performance from one to seven for us.
“Obviously they were missing Jason (Edwards) but we can only race what’s in front of us, and I think the good thing was getting a good start, which we haven’t been doing.
“We got away well, which was good, and it gave us a bit of a cushion to play with.”
Redcar manager Gavin Parr said: “We were beaten by the better side on the day, I’ve got no excuses. We didn’t start well and it’s always an uphill battle when you’re 10-2 down.
“The guys stuck at it and we tried our hardest, but we just weren’t good enough on the night.”

IPSWICH host Sheffield in a big clash of the top two teams in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership at Foxhall tonight (Thursday).
The clubs have regularly contested major silverware in recent seasons and they find themselves at the summit once again in 2025, with the Witches starting the meeting in first place by virtue of the Tigers’ heavy defeat at Leicester on Monday.
The home side have called in Sam Masters to guest for the injured Jason Doyle whilst Connor Mountain steps in at reserve with Dan Thompson still ruled out. Meanwhile the visitors are boosted by the return of Jack Holder who missed their previous match due to a GP qualifier.
Witches boss Ritchie Hawkins said: “Every meeting against Sheffield is tough and we had a great battle up there a few weeks ago, and hopefully that will be replicated again on Thursday for the fans.
“We are keen to come away with three points and they will see it as an opportunity to get a win at Ipswich, and we need to get the ball back rolling after a few tough meetings recently.
“We have got Sam coming in for Jason and we know him very well, he has done a brilliant job every time he has guested for us before. Connor will do a couple of meetings guesting for Dan. I have tried a few times to get him in but unfortunately, we haven’t been able to do it due to other commitments he has had.”
The aggregate point is also available with the Tigers having edged the home encounter 46-44, and captain Josh Pickering is pleased to have another meeting so soon after Monday’s disappointment in the East Midlands.
Pickering said: “That’s one good thing about speedway, you don’t have too many days to sit around, ponder on things and worry and stress – you’ve got to be focussing on your next meeting.
“Leicester is what it is, it’s hard to say exactly where we went wrong – but there’s no panic stations here.
“We’re all looking forward to Ipswich, we’re geared up for it, we’re the top two teams in the league for a reason – let’s keep things cruising along.”
IPSWICH: Emil Sayfutdinov, Danny King, Adam Ellis, Tom Brennan, Sam Masters, Connor Mountain, Jordan Jenkins.
SHEFFIELD: Jack Holder, Anders Rowe, Josh Pickering, Lewi Kerr, Chris Holder, Justin Sedgmen, Leon Flint.

OXFORD and King’s Lynn are level on points in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership ahead of their clash at Cowley tonight (Thursday).
The Stars raced to a home win over Birmingham on Monday to go into fifth place on six points with both sides seeking to build a run to put pressure on Leicester above them.
Meanwhile the Spires are racing for the first time in over a fortnight, and their last home meeting went down to the wire as they drew 45-45 with Sheffield before losing out in a Super Heat.
British GP Wild Card Charles Wright takes over at No.1 for Oxford this month with the home side set to be at full strength, whilst the visitors – who won on their previous visit in the KO Cup, and also carry a big advantage for the aggregate point – have Kyle Howarth guesting for the injured Ben Cook, and Jody Scott takes over in the Rising Star berth.
Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “The break for the Spires has given us a chance to have a re-set before we get going with the rest of the season.
“I still believe that we have a good team if everyone clicks on the same night. We just need to find some consistency, starting against King’s Lynn.
“Our next three meetings with the Spires are at home at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium and we need to start getting into the habit of winning our home meetings.”
Stars boss Rob Lyon said: “It’s an important match for us on Thursday. We rode well there in the Knockout Cup earlier in the season and won comfortably, so another result like that would be great.
“But any win is fine because we beat them convincingly at home in the first leg, and we’ll be taking things one at a time because we’ve got quite a few big ones coming including Ipswich at home next week.”
OXFORD: Charles Wright, Maciej Janowski, Craig Cook, Rohan Tungate, Erik Riss, Peter Kildemand, Luke Killeen.
KING’S LYNN: Richard Lawson, Kyle Howarth, Nicolai Klindt, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Chris Harris, Jan Kvech, Jody Scott.
