LISMORE SPEEDWAY: PRICE IS NSW AMCA CHAMPION
By Dennis Newlyn
It was one of the most emotional results in the history of Castrol Lismore Speedway when Troy Price took out the 2025 NSW AMCA Championship on Saturday June, 7.
The victory held a very special meaning as Troy is the grandson of the late great Lismore icon Col Randall a 2025 Lismore Speedway Wall of Fame inductee.
Price, who led Shane Cartwright and Jai Jones to the chequered flag in the state title choked back on tears as he related what the win meant to him.
“It’s all for him (Col),” Troy said.
“To win this New South Wales title is quite special. I mean, going up against these drivers, it’s very tough. Near the end of the race I just had to hold my line but I was made work hard for the win.”
The 35 lap title decider had a bit of everything, sparked with a dramatic incident as strong
contender Bruce Marshall was sent to the rear of the field after an on track skirmish when challenging for the lead
Shane Cartwright led from the outset and it was a “freight train” as Cartwright, Marshall, Jones, National Champiom Matt Hardy, who started from pole position, Price, Tony Blanch and Mitch Randall all ran nose to tail.
A yellow light with sixteen laps to go set the stage for a thrilling finish.
Price drove an incredible race as he worked his way from within the pack of cars to make his bid for the lead as the laps ran out. Then another yellow light for a stranded Tim Gamble gave Price the final run to the chequered flag.
Other main event winners were: Tony Blanch (AMCA B-main), Shane Carlson (RSA Sedans), Zane O’Toole (Wingless (prelim A), Jake Synott (Junior Top Stars), Mason Stubbs (Junior New Stars), Brock Thornton (Legend Cars), Geoff Hayes (Production Sedans).
