2025 SPEEDWAY EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP WILD CARDS REVEALED
The five permanent wild cards for the 2025 Speedway European Championship series have been confirmed as the continent’s stars battle for a spot in the 2026 FIM Speedway Grand Prix series.
Great Britain’s double FIM Speedway of Nations world champion Tom Brennan, former Speedway GP star Przemyslaw Pawlicki of Poland, Czech charger Vaclav Milik, German young gun Norick Blodorn and Swedish international Timo Lahti have all been added to the line-up by FIM Europe and series promoter One Sport.
They join the automatic qualifiers from the 2024 SEC series, reigning champion Andzejs Lebedevs of Latvia, last year’s runner-up Leon Madsen from Denmark, and Polish trio Kacper Woryna, Piotr Pawlicki and Patryk Dudek, who was called up as the sixth-placed rider from last year, replacing Denmark’s Anders Thomsen, who opted out of the competition.
The top five riders from last Saturday’s SEC Challenge in Stralsund, Germany also compete – winner Dimitri Berge of France, Denmark’s Michael Jepsen Jensen, Ukrainian talent Nazar Parnitskyi, Denmark’s Frederik Jakobsen and double SGP2 champion Mateusz Cierniak from Poland.
The reserve riders for the SEC series are former Speedway GP rider Szymon Woźniak of Poland, Ukraine’s Marko Levishyn, Denmark’s Rasmus Jensen, French international David Bellego and Slovenia’s Anže Grmek.
The winner of this year’s SEC series will earn a guaranteed spot in the 2026 Speedway GP series.
The championship gets underway in Polish city Bydgoszcz on July 12, with round two at German venue Gustrow on July 26. The third leg takes place at Polish club Leszno on August 23, with the title decider at Czech track Pardubice on September 19 – the opening night of the city’s famous Golden Helmet weekend.
