NORWEGIAN QUALIFIES TO SGP2 WITH MAXIMUM
Norwegian star Mathias Pollestad powered into the 2025 SGP2 series with a fantastic 15-point maximum as reigning SGP2 champion Wiktor Przyjemski stepped up his title defence at Czech track Pardubice on Saturday.
Pollestad won the FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship bronze medal last year, and this season he goes for gold after a flawless performance over five rides to book his place in the three-round SGP2 series.
Przyjemski took second spot in the qualifier on 14 points, beaten only by Pollestad, as he bids to emulate Emil Sayfutdinov, Darcy Ward, Maksym Drabik and Mateusz Cierniak and become a two-time FIM Speedway Under-21 world champion.
Danish star William Drejer and Slovenian prospect Anze Grmek both secured qualification on 12 points, with Drejer winning a run-off for the final place on the podium.
Poland’s Pawel Sitek and Sweden’s Sammy van Dyck just fell short on 10 points apiece, with British Under-21 champion Sam Hagon and Australia’s James Pearson both exiting on nine.
Two more qualifying events to decide the starters for the final are yet to be decided.
